Hi Citizens! TLDL - Scroll down for images. I love the concept of the Starfarer and the role it fills in the PU, but I loath the interior layout. I made 2 interior layout variations which CIG is welcome to use or draw from. I could have spent many more hours refining these designs, but I have already invested a lot of time into these. Of these 2 variations, I prefer the second one, as I feel it makes more sense to separate the elevators in the event of unforeseen circumstances and ease of navigation. The Starfarer, in its current state, has many interior design flaws. My interior redesign aims to correct these by increasing the easy of navigation, decreasing amount of tiny unused rooms and excessive corridors, adding a designated refining area, consolidating elevators and ladders to access all decks, all while maintaining the MISC practical design language where the original art assets can be moved around and reused. There are still several unused areas and rooms which CIG can utilize how they wish. I would be happy to continue working on these designs if they were needed. I also felt the 4 turrets, requiring the majority of the total crew to be gunners on a fueling vessel didn't add up. Reducing the amount of gunners needed made sense for a refueling vessel. This could be done by making the fewer turrets more effective. I think the pilot also has too much firepower for a refueling vessel, and pilot weapons could be down graded to S3's, at least for the non-Gemini variant of the Starfarer. Let me know your thoughts on these designs. I am an electrical engineering student using this as a chance to improve my AutoCAD skills.
