So earlier today my computer had a crash that resulted in the motherboard only being able to work with a single stick or RAM. All the sticks work solo but including more than one stick at a time will allow windows to boot to desktop. However if I attempt to open a program or game of any sustenance the whole computer crashes. Basically I can either replace the mother board with one almost the same or I can look to upgrade my Motherboard, CPU and Ram to some more up-to-date hardware. The issue I have is I don't know what hardware I should replace it with. My current specks are: Motherboard: MSI 970 GAMING Socket AM3+ 7.1-Channel HD Audio ATX CPU: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core RAM: 12 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro Series DDR3 DRAM 2400MHz (currently down to 4gb) Graphics Card: GTX 970 Turbo Power Supply: Coolermaster GM-Series 750W Semi Modular 80+ Bronze Power Supply Case: XFX type 0 If possible I would like to keep using my current Case, Graphics Card and Power Supply. This upgrade is already expensive enough as it is I don't want to add many more costs if I can help it. I need a motherboard that has at least 6 sata slots because I have 1 SSD, 3 HDD's and 2 disk drives, I'm trying to cut down my data footprint onto external drives but I'll deal with that later. The components need to be able to support VR game play (oculus rift) as well as make a decent effort towards running the current implementation of SC. Someone has recently recommended the Ryzen 5 2600X 3.9GHz (Wraith Stealth Cooler) as my CPU but I really don't know how it compares to other CPUs and what other components I should be looking for. Extra Info: I live in the UK, I do not want to be overclocking components if I can help it. I run a duel monitor setup with a 1920x1080 resolution.
