I can upgrade half my PC now and the other half at the end of the year. The end result is an entire upgrade. I've got to decide which half to upgrade first. I play SC the most with Warframe and Halo coming in at a close second. I only really have problems with SC in terms of FPS at 1080P. My potential options are: Buy a graphics card now (used 6800XT or new 7600XT whenever that comes out), and the rest at year-end. Buy a mobo, processor, and RAM now (new or used 5800x3d and 32gb DDR4 3600mhz), then a graphics card later. Forbidden fourth option; upgrade mobo, CPU, and RAM to the latest 7800x3D and DDR5 (ouch). While SC is very CPU intensive, my gut instinct is telling me to spring for a graphics card first. It will be bottlenecked but I'm hoping it will still increase my FPS quite a bit. I doubt a CPU upgrade alone will double my FPS, which is currently around 20-30FPS on average. Anyway, while that's my plan, I'm open to all opinions in case ya'll have better ideas. It looks like I've got a lot of components here I can reuse which is good.
