This post is aimed for all the users having an Intel i9 13th/14th gen processor experiencing game crashes frequently. As we know the game is not perfect and it's still in active development. It seems developers are fixing client crashes with every release. However, lately, I was having more game crashes than usual, but I thought: "well maybe it's because of the 3.23.1(a) patch" But I started to notice other applications had memory violation errors, like Chrome, or Windows itself (BSOD caused, in theory by sppsvc, which is the Windows activation service). So, I started to look into it, and.... it seems there is a known issue related to this (https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/June-2024-Guidance-regarding-Intel-Core-13th-and-14th-Gen-K-KF/m-p/1607807?profile.language=en) First, I stambled upon this post (https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/I9-13900K-and-I9-14900K-Memory-Access-Violation-with-turbo/td-p/1575161) on which there are several recommendations, like changing the BIOS parameters for the CPU package power consumption, and even some were suggesting to request an RMA. I applied all the parameters suggested in the latest post and turned out the crashes were gone-ish. Had 1 crash on the verse today and looking into it, from the assembly point, it made no sense it was a code defect (except maybe an stack corruption, which is possible, but considering I was having issues with the memory access, not a possibility I considered) Later on today I had Chrome crash too, so I double-checked the parameters and it seemed I left the IccMax set to 400A when on the post they recommend something in between 307A-335A So, I've changed that parameter and I am still testing that. However, I might request an RMA since Intel specs says that you should be able to set this at 400A. TL;DR: If you are having memory access violation issues in the verse (frquent crashes) and out of the verse, I'd recommend you get in touch with the sellers, since it might not be a game issue, but your CPU being unstable. PST. Damn Intel.... I always thought their products were reliable, but it seems that in order to win the market race, they overspec'd their chips. Edit: Update 23th of June. I have been running a benchmark for the whole night with IccMax = 335A, no issues so far. Edit(2): Update 24th of June. Several crashes with Brave, I'll try 307A, but as suspected, my unit might have degraded. Edit(3): Update 25th of June. No luck with 307A, got a BSOD, RMA it is
