So I have a fun problem here. I got a Asus Strix Z690-I motherboard with i5-12600k CPU. Apparently ASUS botched the VRM cooler design, and the mobo is mechanically incompatible with 90% of the most popular CPU coolers.... including a large number of AIO pumps. I've gone through 2 Noctua coolers before realizing just how extensive the problem is. And after 3 hours of research online, I haven't been able to find any clear cut answers on a compatible cooler for this Mobo. So in a bid of desperation, I'm trying to find an AIO with a small enough pumpblock to fit in this little bastage, and 120mm radiator to still fit in the case. I originally wanted (and still want) air cooling; but I'm fighting against 2 issues where the Alderlakes are pump out a ton of heat, and all go-to coolers can't clear the STRIX's stupidly tall VRM cooler. And that leaves the question of if an air cooler can manage to fit, can it handle the alderlakes? This is what the build is based off of. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Wvbvqm Any suggestions on coolers to look into would be appreciated. I would had opted for a different board if found out before buying, but at this point the board can't be refunded, so trying to find a cooling solution is the cheaper option.
