Yes, I know that the game is still unoptimized and that the performance can be tied to a specific server that I'm playing on, or even a USB device. It's a mess and I shouldn't be expecting it to run perfectly smoothly, but I wanted to see If maybe I'm missing something that you guys could point out. My specs: i7 12700 cooled with a be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 Kingston FURY 64GB (2x32GB) 3200MHz CL16 RTX 3070 Plextor 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe M10PG (SC and my OS are both on this drive) Running on Win 11 @ 1440p Edit: Before anyone screams at me, I am aware that I paired a non-overclockable CPU with an overclocking capable motherboard. That's because of the dumb Intel Power States they introduced with this generation. Some lower-tier chipset motherboards may not be able to run the 12700 at its top TDP and since there's no list of those that do, I didn't want to take a risk there. This week I updated to an RTX 3070 from a GTX 970 and the improvement is obviously massive, but I've been experiencing a weird kind of stuttering throughout the verse... It's a combination of micro jitters with what feels like big dips in fps and the movements slowing down and speeding up randomly (but not all the time). It happens in every major city - my CPU is pinned at a 100%, GPU chillin' at 30-50%. Planet/moon surfaces tend to stutter less. [I was even able to get through a perfectly smooth 60 fps cave mission on Daymar when both the CPU and GPU were equally utilized - about 70%] I know about the E-cores in 12th gen Intel CPUs, I've tried every configuration (tested in ArcCorp/Hurston/Orison habs) - E-cores off; Hyperthreading off; 1/2/4 P-cores off as well with the E-cores on with each setting. Every mix of cores gave a slightly different result but none of them were pleasing. The best one was E-cores off and 6c/12t on my i7. I was using Process Lasso to set the affinity since Easy Anti Cheat doesn't allow that through the Task Manager and you can also set it to always and never think about it again. And it's kind of a crazy thing to say, but I feel like the game was more stable on my old 970 xd But I was getting 16-25 fps so maybe I just didn't see these issues through the lag. All I want is a stable-ish experience. 3.18 with Gen.12 may bring that, but that's still a couple months away. And there have been multiple reports of this kind of stutter from people with 12gen Intel CPUs playing in 3.17+ Any ideas on what I could try? EDIT: Thank you for all the suggestions. Between the creation of this post and this edit (14th of August) I dug through multiple threads on this issue and disabled Intel C-states and related settings, updated the BIOS of my motherboard which allowed me to disable every E-core (since I'm using a non-K CPU, I don't have per core adjustments and settings, so before I could only select a number of cores that would stay active. The lowest I could set it was 1. After the update I can set it to 0) Having ditched Process Lasso entirely, I also disabled Hyperthreading in the BIOS and had my first somewhat smooth session. The stutters were mostly gone. Now every time there would be a dip it wouldn't go below 22-ish fps - and those were rare. Walking around ArcCorp habs and plaza I was getting a solid 60fps most of the time. When I looket at certain buildings or in certain directions the frames would go down to 30 but those were always the same scenarios. It was consistent, more natural and less distracting. More alike to what I came across in other games on my old 970 (when I would lag because of hardware constraints) The slight slowing down and speeding up remained but in a way less noticeable form. This solution is not perfect since... I'm using less than half of my CPU at this point. No E-cores and no hyperthreading. But I guess I don't have a better solution until 3.18 comes around and does... something. When I first upgraded to the 12700 it was actually too fast for my 970. The GPU was pinned at a 100% at all times and the CPU was chilling at around 20% so I had to disable two of its P-cores to bump up the utilization. That was the most stable soultion for that combo. Can't get the 3070 to get utilized more tho.
