Just saw an upcoming release of a soundcard called the "Creative SoundblasterX AE-5". Looks like a great audio card and cheap($150USD) however, it has a new technology which depending on accuracy could be a blatant cheat. Scout 2.0 - A more advanced version of creatives prior "Scout mode" audio tweaking to make footsteps or other game sounds more noticeable. Once you have used it, it feels like such an advantage over others on regular. ^I am sort of okay with this after all it is just audio tweaking which similar results could be made with equaliser and effects tweaking. Scout Radar - "Scout Radar transforms your mobile device’s display into a radar that reveals your enemy's location in real time. Now, besides hearing your enemies from further away with Scout Mode, you can actually visualize and pinpoint your enemy's position using Scout Radar." ^This is the issue at point...a radar which looking at the app in the store page seems extremely accurate, which also seems to give target designation, that shows the location of enemies in the game. Now i do not know how it can determine enemy or if it just shows the locations of all sounds but either way if this is accurate it will be a blatant cheat. Why i am worried about this is that it adds an extreme amount of pay to win to ALL games not only this game and i am also worried that a large company is selling this as a product. I am also worried about Asus' Sonic Radar that keeps on getting updates which may make it a cheat however i have heard it is not all that reliable enough to be advantageous and does seem to be a bit clustered to get a clear picture of whats what currently. Creatives solution does deem to possibly be an undetectable cheat, its hardware running their software and the radar is on a dedicated phone app...how do you track the usage of that? The only way i can see this possibly being resolved is by banning the card outright and possibly even Asus' sonic radar which would drastically drop the player base if you own a ROG board or want/have this card for audio quality. I am yet to obtain this card and see for myself but i am extremely worried that major companies such as gigabyte, creative and asus are going to have this feature inbuilt to pc hardware and basically endorsing cheating. (Gigabyte due to their use of creative integrated audio) TL;DR Sound Radars are cheating why do they exist? https://us.creative.com/p/sound-cards/sound-blasterx-ae-5 What do you guys think?
