I've never been on the cutting edge of getting computer hardware. Even when I purchased my intel i7 4790K it was two years after it's debut. Even so it's been a reliable beast of a cpu, but it's starting to show it's age. So I've been tightening my belt and saving my pennies ( okay, dollars - a lot of them ) for an upgrade and a couple of months ago I upgraded to the i9 9900KF w/ 32gb ram and two 1tb ssd drives and of course a new MB; However, I'm still using my venerable gtx 970 - good graphics card to be sure, but I fear that the 3.5gb onboad memory will restrict it in Star Citizen. Now I know that maybe, just maybe, I should have waited to check out all the hubbub about the new AMD processors, but it's too late to worry about that now so back to the graphics card question. My monitor is the Samsung 100Hz 34" curved monitor at 3440X1440 resolution - a Christmas present from my wonderful family three years ago. I want to try for the best eye candy I can get on it and I know the gtx 970 just isn't going to do the trick. But with all the excitement surrounding the new upcoming graphic cards, how long do I wait - and will they be ridiculously expensive (okay, we all know the answer to that ). Well what I'm hoping for is that when the new cards come out it'll help drive down the prices of the present selection and then maybe I'll be able to get the RTX 2080 ti.
