I have been helping people with finding cheaper alternatives to webcams using FOiP for a while now on Reddit, mainly because I have the equipment to test those alternatives - there are many. I have the Logitech C920 - bought it quite a few years ago. It's still around $100 new despite it being old tech now. It's not that great to be honest max 30fps but goes to about 15 fps in low light, as far as using it for FOiP you can but it has about 10th second lag and exposure levels don't go smoothly, it jumps in brightness levels. I have two 4K action cameras: One is the Apeman TRAWO 4K around $80 - 90 right now and has a USB webcam function, it works well for FOiP there are cheaper cameras of that type with USB webcam function, the TRAWO is better than the C920 in FOiP. It works well in low light settings and there is no appreciable lag. The second action camera was a cheap $25 from Amazon it's made by a company called DBPower. It doesn't have USB webcam function but it has 1080p out via HDMI. You can get a HDMI to USB 3.0 capture card on Amazon for about $12 - $18 (make sure to get the 1080p at 60fps input option) which will function as a webcam - it also works well for FOiP. The advantage of the capture card via USB is that anything with a HDMI output can be connected to the PC, so if you already have a camera you might find it has a HDMI out capability. The potentially free option: Today I found an App on the Google Playstore it's called the Iriun 4K Webcam for PC and Mac: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jacksoftw.webcam&pcampaignid=MKT-Other-global-all-co-prtnr-py-PartBadge-Mar2515-1 - it's free. I have two mobile phones, one is a cheap old back up I bought for around $10 it has a 1080p back camera and the other is a Motorola Moto G5 Plus. I have found apps before that use your mobile phone over WiFi but they tend to be a bit hit and miss, this app does WiFi but it also works over your phones USB cable. I tested them both. My Moto G5 Plus shows as a 4K webcam @60fps and the other phone as a webcam at 1080p @60fps. - no appreciable lag with either phone. I tried both phones using the iriun app in the game (indoors cloudy day no extra lights), at up to 1080p 60fps on both of them with good capture for FOiP. Here is their website: https://iriun.com/ - it's not complicated, just install the app on the phone, install the driver on the PC connect your phone to PC via USB and start the phone app. It just works. I hope some of you find that useful. EDIT 14/06 - To be clear, I didn't test the Iriun app for FOIP over Wifi I only tested it using USB 3.0 since this USB ability is it's unique selling point.
