Hello good people, I'm considering buying a HOTAS setup for the first time and I'd like to ask a couple questions. The CH fighterstick and throttle pro have caught my eye due to their(supposedly) extreme longevity and general build quality together with awesome software for configuration; the thing is, in most discussions I've come across over the internet, when people talk about what products to buy they also talk about where/how to mount them, typically on the chair they use for gaming. The problem is that I don't want to mount my setup: I live in a relatively small apartment with the rest of my family, and there's not that much room to spare, which means that we can't have a dedicated spot for a full "cockpit" setup, especially since the others may need to use the same computer and could find the whole thing annoying. What I'd like to do is to simply keep my joystick and throttle stored somewhere, put them on my desk when I want to play and put them away when I'm done, nothing fancy. So, here are my questions: do you guys find it necessary to mount/fix in place your sticks and throttles, or are you able to use them out of the box without them moving around? If you mount them, are you aware of any "non permanent" solutions(read: not drilling them on your desk, using a dedicated chair or something of that kind) that can be easily, or relatively easily, dismantled? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. A few things left: I'm aware of the fact that much cheaper, entry-level options exist other than CH products, but it's fine: I'm willing to spend some more upfront given how long they seem to last(this also makes them easier to resell, in case I don't like them); I'm not really interested in using pedals, regardless of their usefulness for controlling yaw; this is in part because of current budget concerns(I can always buy them in the future), in part because they require more space, in part because some people seem to do perfectly fine with the mini-stick on the throttle pro; If you'd like to suggest any site where to buy accessories or other things, please keep in mind that I live in Italy, so importing from the US or other non EU countries may not be that easy or cost effective for me; This setup would not be specifically for Star Citizen, especially because I'll probably need to upgrade my machine first to run it properly(lack of optimization aside); I'm not hell-bent on buying a HOTAS, if it would be too much work I'll go back to mouse and keyboard; I backed this game 5 years ago, but I haven't really played it so far and I'm new to this whole space/flight sim thing, so please be gentle, I might have written some stupid things out of ignorance. Thanks, everybody.
