Does windows need to be on a SSD (along with SC) inorder for the game to benefit from the SSD? - Hardware

A friend of mine got a 120gb SSD to run Star Citizen on. Can he install the SSD as a second drive just for SC, or will he have to move windows 10 to it also to get the benefit of speed?
