There are a number of threads on monitor options, including one very recent and so not to steal their thread, I thought I would restate the question in an effort to get greater feedback. I have been in the market for an Ultrawide monitor for several years now. I hesitated last November when there was a good sale price for the Alienware AW3418DW and regret it as it looks like it is still a decent candidate for this year. I held back at the time since I was seeing a lot of reviews about problems with that model. Of course every model has some flaws or weak points and reviews are often skewed in the negative, but I digress. Right now I have a shitty 27" 1080p 60Hz IPS and its horrible for detail. Trying to see anything in space is a nightmare and all is a washed out mess and 60Hz is painful, so any 2k UW will be a dramatic step up. I'd like community input before the sales come and go. Looks like folks are still buying the Alienware and the Acer Predator. There are a bunch of other options it seams from other manufacturers and I'm a bit overwhelmed. I play primarily SC, War Thunder (because boredom and though it has a lot not to like about it, I still enjoy it) and a smattering of other things from time to time. Mostly first person stuff or strategy based games. I know not all games will run on UW, that's ok. I am looking for: 2K 1440p high refresh rate - 100hz min G-Sync or verified Adaptive sync that will work with my RTX 2080 Rich blacks and contrast so I can see things in the dark of space HDR would be great but its kind of more an arbitrary selling point these days than a good indicator of value preferably < $1000 (maybe more if needed seeing as I kept my 27" now for 6yrs it'l be worth the investment) Thanks for your time and help.
