I just wanted to throw this out here because more ppl may have this problem. Since I have a new pc (since about a year) I haven't been able to play star citizen for long because of crashes. At first I thought the cause was in the software, but a friend of mine never seemed to crash. He suggested a bigger power supply for my power hungry gtx1080, and it helped, but the crashes still happened, just not that often. The final bit turned out to be memory timings.. There is a feature on AMD chipsets called 'AM4 advance boot learning', which is a miserable feature.. It causes your pc to evaluate memory timings when you switch on your pc. It starts with aggressive timings, then turns your pc off and on with less aggressive timings until it boots. It boots, but it's not stable at all.. I disabled 'AM4 advance boot learning', and put my memory (ras to cas delay etc) on auto, which caused it to go up from 18 to 23. Also the dram voltage went down from 1.3 to 1.2V. Star citizen runs stable now! So lesson learned, always check what mobo features mean, because some features just ruin your games.. Update: It still didnt run entirely stable, so I put my ram speed on auto. It now runs on 2100 MHz instead of 3200, and SC 2.6.0 is stable as a rock (when I get past the loading screen ) I've searched around some more, and it seems 3200MHz mem is never entirely stable.. some shops only sell max 2400 or 2600 Mhz mem because of this issue. I havent noticed any drop in framerate. Maybe I'm down 1 or 2 fps, but that's a price I gladly pay for a stable system. Update 2: Adv boot learning still disabled, and XMP profile 1 on 2666 MHz works and is stable!
