I've looked around and read a bunch of articles and have come to the conclusion that although I really really want a graphics card with 8gb of RAM, I wouldn't actually use it as that high level of ram is really for high resolution or multi-screen setups... I don't care about 4k gaming, i care less than that about VR, I am not particularly fussed about HD gaming, and I only use one screen and always run my games in lowest settings to get performance over looks... I'm building a FX 8350 CPU setup with a 970 chip-set motherboard, because I am cheap. The one thing I've been trying to do is not overspend on any one component but I have been sorely tempted with the GPU... But I've not been able to find any data on if an 8gb card will even be able to utilize all that on a 970 chipset, so I suppose thats part of my question - Does anyone know: A) Does anyone think SC will eventually need (benefit from?) over 4gb of video-RAM? It's the only game I'm building this machine for and I know a 4gb is currently recommended. B) Will the ancient machine i'm building be able to use all of a cards 8gb of RAM anyway? C) My current GTX750 2gb uses ALL of that 2GB and 12 gb of system RAM when playing SC. How much Video Card RAM does your machine use when playing SC at the moment?
