I've just done a search and couldn't find anything, and as HCS is a very popular (lol was) VoiceAttack (VA) plugin, I though those of you who might be using it - or thinking of using it with SC as I'm sure HCS would have done something - I thought you all should be made aware of what has happened in the last 24 hours. HCS has been caught and proven to have embedded sections of code that deliberately interfered with another 3rd party VA plugin, which allowed a user to insert their own music into the system. Gamemusicpacks was not in direct competition with HCS, as they served two very different functions, and I can only assume HCS were in the process of releasing their own music plugin, but that is my own personal opinion. Shutting down another 3rd party's plugin for VA, for something that isn't in direct competition, makes no sense otherwise. The Reddit is here https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/85xtnj/hcs_voice_packs_maliciously_preventing/ Along with video evidence. HCS in the last 2 hours have scrambled to push out a patch for all of their packages under the guise of a "DRM fix" except it has already been analysed and shown that all the "patch" does is remove the malicious code. All forms of communication with HCS have been shut down, people who have asked questions via Discord have been perma banned - questions on FB have been deleted and access has been locked. I can personally verify both of those to be true. You might wonder why I'm bringing this to your attention after it's been "fixed" and that should be fairly obvious - companies that do this do not deserve to be supported, and more importantly have this kind of behaviour made as public as possible. Companies like VA, GMP and EDDiscovery are small private ventures, created with one sole purpose, to expand and increase a players interaction within a game, thier products are cheap, well supported and a great addition. This was seemingly true too of HCS until 24 hours ago - however now it seems they were not happy and wanted a bigger slice of the pie, and were willing to sabotage another companies software that already occupied that position, to get it. The naming of the malicious code is particularly apt (it's a STRONG english insult) - and HCS is an english company.
