So my specs haven't changed much since i backed in 2014, - GTX 970 - FX 8150 - 32 GB DDR3 except that I used to have a 250GB SSD from a laptop I stopped using during that time, and had SC on there along with a few other "things I want to load quickly" games and whatnot. Now though, I've recently re-cannibalized the SSD from my desktop back into the same laptop since I hadn't been playing SC for a while and everything else on there never suffered from just being on my regular 1TB 7200rpm WD Blacks. With that out of the way: as of about a week ago, I finally installed 3.1, and was greeted by pretty good frames and performance performance in all my hangers (like a pretty stable upper 45-55 FPS), "meh" framerate and pretty laggy performance in AC, and classic abysmal framerate in PU, can't speak for performance because I couldn't even leave the sleeping pod/room to begin with). As far as I'm aware, my card should be able to run the game okay, and while my CPU is pretty dated it still sits above of old recommended and min specs from the forums, but what I'm not sure about is the RAM and the drive. I image that my nearly infinite load times into the PU and AC are a product of the HDD instead of an SSD, but I'm wondering just how much of an performance bottleneck / impact that has as well. Also, is DDR3 just not cutting it anymore, because I'm sure I have enough RAM at least lol. Am I off base diagnosing the issue as a read/write speed and RAM issue? Or is my entire setup also just completely unplayable on 3.1 now?
