THE GUIDE I am using a Samsung QN85A TV for this guide. All steps are performed to your monitor or TV, except the last step, though you will need to be in game as well. Step 1 : Start the game and go to Levski hanger, ideally with a ship landed so you have some close lights , and can see the close lights and the distant flood lights and the hanger door and the open freight elevator next to it. These areas have a lot of contrast and really show the HDR effect imo. Levski habz work well too. Then access your TV's or Monitor's settings menu via OSD using your remote control , or via app which ever is applicable. Step 2: Make sure multi zone back lighting dimming is on. OLED ingnore this. My Samsung calls it "Local Dimming". You need this for good HDR. Step 3: If you have a Contrast Enhancer, use it as HDR is all about Contrast. Step 4: You want to set the colour tone to 6500K Kekvin which is a standard for sunlight D65 something somthing. This made a bigger impact than I thought. Things in game look more realistic instead of like Anime. Anime fans have been warned. Terminators look even more awesome now. On my Samsung 6500K Kelvin is called "Warm 2" Step: 5 Now for the most impactful thing you can do to provide yourselves with the ultimate HDR , sounds like marketing, I know but its true!!!!!!! Watch the following jpg's and you'll know I'm right! Meet "ST2084" he's in charge of HDR brightness, yes when your normal "Gama" fails, "ST2084" saves the day. Ever think HDR is great but it's too dark, aamirite? Well "ST2084" can help you out. Below are images taken from my phone showing how "ST2084" affects HDR brightness. Enjoy. After faffing with my ST2084 setting it is no longer pitch black every where , now it's only pitch black in some places as it should be. If I went over board it would be pitch black no where, that's how you tell your on the money. The games so much nicer to play now that I can see better. Step: 6 OK, it's been a long journey so I'll keep this short. I lied before when I said ST2084 is the man...this next step "whife ref" is the most impactfull step of all. OK, their both impactful, but I digress. After this step your eye's will be stupified with HDR Awesomeness, Behold. And Brace yourselves, HDR is coming! So, in the in game graphics menu switch ON HDR and leave "HDR Peak Brightness" at maximum. Want peak highlights you need "HDR Peak Brightness" at maximum. Don't listen to drivel on the internet this needs to be at maximum Or put it this way. If you want this guide to work for you, set "HDR Peak Brightness" at maximum. Now for the Awesome maker, "HDR Brightness (Ref-White)". This step is quite easy considering it's impact. Start at 200 "HDR Brightness (Ref-White)" from here on out called white-ref. Now reduce white-ref by 10 and check the game in the Levski hanger or hab. And have a look look around on the spot. Does it look better at first glance by instinct. Don't over think it, if you Hmm that sort of does look better, not sure why , but... Then the answer is YES..Drop white-ref by another 10 and repeat and repeat until it STOPS looking better. You will find that as white ref decreases the scene just keeps improving until it doesn't. At that point you need to back up one step and only one step and your basically done. You can go further using increments less than 10 to get the bleeding edge of HDR awesomeness. Fly around the verse for a day before touching it after that. BTW, when it stops looking better, the whites will be drab and not as bright as before. It's relative. Back up a step till it looks awesome again. Should be looking good now. Enjoy.
