I've never used Hotas setup before. I get the concept...have joystick and separate throttle controller. I never really wanted one (I played Wing Commander 3 with a joystick when I was a teenager, maybe one or two Star Wars games, that's about it). Here is my current mindset. I have not played SC much (but will one day) and I am new to Elite Dangerous...like..."I haven't gone through all the tutorials just yet" type new. I am starting to want a Hotas that will work in excellent form for both games. I'm not concerned with the price. I've Googled around to quite a few "top 10 Hotas" websites and whatnot. I would rather come to the SC community (which I've seen to be an great group for discussions about hardware setups) and ask you. I'm looking to you, dear community, for experienced guidance. I don't mind going to another website if you want to give me that. But I hoping for information from users who can provide some likes\dislikes\things I should make sure to look for. What would you recommend? Have no idea if this is important, but will mention: I like heavy equipment with a solid feel. I enjoy playing in the dark. I know I'll become familiar with button placement, but wouldn't mind lights here and there...just not massive spotlights that will distract me too much. I'm fine with spending a solid couple bucks. If it goes over $500 I may hesitate, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't jump for it eventually. I want the throttle and stick to be separate. Or, rather, I don't want them both to be one unit that won't allow me to detach the stick from the throttle unit. I was poking around and I swore I saw someone saying that they can come as just one piece of solid plastic with that contained the stick and throttle. You guidance is much appreciated.
