How do I install a HD with Windows 10 already on it, onto a new Mother board? - Hardware

Hi So it is my understanding, that if you upgraded a retail version of windows 7, to windows 10, I will be able to keep on using it if I change mother boards. So that brings me to how do I do that? What happens when I boot up for the first time, with a new MB and a HD with Windows 10 already on it? Thanks Ozark
