I have a good PC that I built, I finally have an RTX 3070, and finally got a 144Hz monitor but it is 1080p. But I do not like the fast twitch shooting games and such that need frame rates out the wazoo. I can get a lot of frame rates in MSFS on ultra settings but in most flight sims I have flown in even 30-60 FPS is silky smooth. I get high frame rates in SC, but even when they sucked it was smooth. So I thought about what is the most important thing to me in games and it is smooth play and most importantly, it has to look as awesome as possible. I cannot fly a plane, heli, or car in a game that is not perfect in the looks department, I do not care how smooth a game is if the vehicles, planes, or ships look bland, and it is the same for scenery and such. I have yet to even see a game on a 4k monitor, but can see a big difference between 1080p and 4k on 2 TVs sitting side by side, and hope it is the same for games. I know I'd take a performance hit, but I know already that MSFS, RDR2 Online would be smooth but look better. I have no idea about SC and what to expect, at 1080p I get 50-78 FPS at Lorville, at the refineries I get about 112 or so FPS, and the same abord my ships in spac. But, I am not going to base getting a 4k monitor on SC alone, or at all really. For mainly casual and somewhat realistic games with nice graphics across the board is it a good upgrade? I'd also be using DLSS. Thank you.
