I think PC gaming may be headed for a rough patch, and I'm not sure CIG is planning for it. Here's the concern: RAM manufacturers are signaling that prices aren't coming back down anytime soon, if ever. Nvidia's attention has clearly shifted away from gaming toward AI and enterprise. And if that trend continues, how long before AMD follows the same path? That matters a lot for a game like Star Citizen. If the hardware needed to run it well keeps getting more expensive and harder to find, where does the next generation of players come from? CIG has spent years building this game — are we going to hit a point where the tech required to play it has priced out the audience that's supposed to grow it? That raises some real questions: Does the game need to be optimized to run well on something like a Steam Machine, rather than assuming players will always have high-end rigs? Is cloud gaming the actual future here — streaming instead of local hardware? I really hope CIG is thinking about this. Because the worst outcome would be Squadron 42 finally launching right as the PC hardware market shifts underneath it, forcing a scramble to build out entirely new infrastructure just so people can actually play the game.
