The answer is yes! Most people are confused because there are several network issues that CIG is trying to fix and release with 3.0 patch that should heavly improve perfomance. What happens is that if i have bad perfomances and ask for help the SC community usually say: "It's not your hardware it's the network issues that should be fixed with 3.0". However this is just partially true. With the following spec i was having in the PU between 10fps and 25fps maximum (Tested on tens different servers): - i5 2300 - GTX 980 OC - 12GB DDR3 - Windows 8.1 However i now have between 30 and 60fps and i basically never go down. Depending on a sever i can go up or down but it's ALWAYS.. ALWAYS smooth in the PU. My spec are now the following: - i7 6700k - GTX 980 OC - 16GB DDR4 - Windows 8.1 So as you can see i just changed the ram.. which believe me surely help but that wasn't the problem.. and i upgraded the CPU. Yes.. the CPU was the problem and the bottleneck but in SC even more. SC is right now HEAVY CPU bounded.. improving your CPU will most likely double your FPS if you already have a decent GPU so let's explode this myth that's impossible to play smoothly on the PU. I'm now having great times with an always smooth PU experience.. Of course with the upcoming 3.0 hopefully the perfomance will be closer to 60fps than 40fps.. but it's perfectly playable and if your fps are between 15-20 but you got enough RAM and a good enough GPU.. then just look for you CPU. PS: I'm talking about specifically of the PU. SM and AC was already quite smooth before even if are even better now. TL;DR Perfomance on the PU: 10-25fps on a i5 2300 30-60fps on a i7 6700k CPU matter much more in SC than any other game.
