Looking for advice on my proposed AMD budget build. Unfortunately I have two ancient Wolfdale based systems which need to be upgraded (one for each daughter ) so they really must be a budget build. PSUs in both are 750w, both have SSDs for SC, and GPUs are adequate if not great so my focus is on CPU, motherboard and DDR4 memory. As a long time Intel builder this will be my first AMD build, so in a sense I'm somewhat of a newbie. :slightly_smiling_face: So far I've settled on the RYZEN 5 2600 CPU. While I understand it would be great to go with the 3600, I really can't afford to go that route at this time. My question has more to do with the motherboard. From what I understand, the B450 based boards should be okay and provide an upgrade path for Ryzen 3x00 in the future. For pricing and availability, I'm looking at these two options: Gigabyte B450 Gaming X MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX The Gigabyte board is a bit cheaper and can be purchased locally, while the MSI board would have to be ordered from an international shipper. Does anyone have any experience with either of these boards? Lastly, what's the word on Geil memory. Currently considering this: GeIL EVO POTENZA AMD 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) GAPR416GB3200C16ADC Thanks for any input!
