Hello there! I just received the Steam Frame yesterday! I bought it primarily to play Star Citizen and Half Life Alyx. You want to know how well the Steam Frame works with Star Citizen? I did too!! But many reviews I read online were negative. It made me nervous about my purchase of Steam Frame. I got it now, so let me tell you about my first hour VR experience in Star Citizen coming from a "first time owner" of a VR goggle. PC Specs and Stuff: CPU: Intel i9-10900F RAM: 32GB GPU: NVIDIA RTX-5070 Ti SSD: Intel Optane 905p 1.5TB Home Router: Apple AirPort Extreme My initial VR Experience in Star Citizen: MIND BLOWING!! Holy Cow! Star Citizen feels like it was designed to be played in VR. Incredible in-game depth. Details all over the world, its objects, and vehicles are simply eye-popping. And the ships... let me tell you... the ships look huge!! And rightly so! The scale, size, and details of the vehicles in Star Citizen look incredible in VR! I can't describe it in words very well. It has to be experienced. Sitting in the cockpit of a ship and flying it is a dream! It feels so natural. Sometimes, I thought I was going to bump my head on the bulkhead! haha It feels like this is how ships were meant to be experienced in the game. My feelings can be best described like this: "Holy Molly! I'm inside Star Citizen!!" Performance: I'm using a 10th generation Intel CPU, so I guess it's a little dated. But it still performs well enough for me to enjoy the game. There were no visual artifacts. No lag or latency issues. I have worn the Meta Quest 2 or 3 at some VR amusement parks and they are noticeably heavy on the head. On the other hand, Steam Frame is light! I think this is the biggest win for the Steam Frame. It is comfortable. It doesn't feel like a burden. I think Valve decided to use a smaller, lighter battery to reduce the weight. I think that's fine. I use the Steam Frame with the AC power cord attached or connect a waist-secured power bank. It's perfectly fine in my opinion. Some reviewers were critical about space not being "black" enough, or the appearance of greyish coloring, or odd glows. If those issues were evident, not once did those things bother me enough to interrupt my experience. To me, the VR experience was wonderful. This is my first VR experience in Star Citizen, so I don't have a comparison with other brands of VR goggles. However... coming from someone experiencing VR in the game for the first time, it was perfectly enjoyable for me. (Well, that's after allowing my brain some time to get used to the VR experience in general as my stomach started feeling weird at first.) No regrets whatsoever. Final Note: If you have never experienced Star Citizen in VR, I recommend at least trying it once. CIG needs to add body tracking, Steam Frame Controller Support, and hand interactions with world objects (just like Half Life Alyx), and Star Citizen could potentially become the ultimate VR experience.
