Very quiet indeed. With the case fans set to medium and normal desktop work it is completely silent. Case fans at high are audible and the GPU when spun up under load has a low hum. CPU is sitting at 44 deg C as I write this in a non-air conditioned room at about 28 degrees. I made some performance tests in SC at both HD and WQHD and low and high RAM speeds. Graphics quality is set to very high at full screen. This was at Port Olisar, standing on the stairs in front of admin looking up at the rotating spheres above the ship terminals. Fps figures are averages and move around a bit outside the ranges shown. Resolution 2560x1440, RAM 2133 MHz (1066 actual) @1.2V 53-56 fps, GPU utilisation 98% Resolution 1920x1080, RAM 2133 MHz (1066 actual) @1.2V 58-62 fps, GPU utilisation 74% Resolution 2560x1440, RAM 3000 MHz (1496.4 actual) @1.35V 52-53 fps, GPU utilisation 99% Resolution 1920x1080, RAM 3000 MHz (1496.4 actual) @1.35V 66-69 fps, GPU utilisation 79-87% As expected the lower resolution has higher fps. At lower RAM speed there is seems a little more fps variability. The difference shown in fps at 2560x1440 is not significant. The GPU is maxing out, and both RAM speeds are serving up data fast enough. Note this is for a static scene with steady textures. At 1920x1080 we see fps gains with higher ram speed. The GPU is not being fully utilised, ranging from low 70s up into the high 80s. At 89% I've seen up to 72 fps. For what it's worth, SC telemetry scores the GPU at 123 and the CPU at 140. All up I'm pretty satisfied with this build. It meets the objectives of being cool and quiet, as well as playing current SC to a satisfactory standard :) Photos and build notes follow, hope you enjoy.
