A few things that can be harmful to almost every game, are options depending on their use/capability. Example in other games is Shadow settings. In most cases the game looks great and amazing with Shadows, but on the other hand, performance may be better with out them, with the side effect of a person disabling shadows being able to see someone who is hiding in them. This is a big problem, and no one has found a solution aside from getting rid of the option entirely. Though usually in this case, players likely with lower end PC's will then opt overflowing forums and to criticising the devs back into adding the option, either because they really do need the option, because a handful of others liked the ability to exploit lesser Graphics for in game advantages over other players. Here's to hoping this won't be a case in SC in the future regarding the recently stated plans for more in depth Graphics settings. Another problem, VOIP communication and the time, effort detail that goes into fleshing out such systems, only to be bypassed or entirely neglected by third party software like Teamspeak 3 or Discord. I know many, like myself are hyped for the epic Voip with environmental sound effects (which is a long time coming in the gaming scene to be honest), but how many people are going to use it aside from the few people who need to get a message across to someone that isn't already using a third party software, or by just typing. This takes alot from the game, but I'm hoping that perhaps there's a good solution to this at some point aswell. Thoughts?
