Can anyone point me to information or links.. or maybe could CIG explain what this is or what this promotion is/was/will be? I just returned home from the hospital myself after emergency surgery Monday. So I have been out of the loop until today finally being I am now back home. I am just hearing about this stuff and playing catchup.. yet can't seem to find definitive factual information.. thus am posting to find out what is the truth and reality of this.. In some other discussions and chats and on RTV I just watched, there has been some comments about some streamers or Star Citizen backers being given free new major hardware (Origin PC's and Intel SSD's) .... except I have not been able to find any specific actual facts or information regarding what this is or how it works other then the quick comments in the RTV I just watched... which should have explained it a bit better. I have seen a few comments from some angry backers, others trying to put their explanation to it.. None that seem to agree on what this is all about... Some saying it is not CIG giving away the free hardware, rather the companies Origin and Intel doing that... which is fine except those companies are getting the names of the Star Citizen backers being awarded this hardware from somewhere, if this is indeed what is happening. How were those Star Citizen backers chosen etc? Being I am just hearing about it, I am trying to find out what this is all about.. the truth and the facts.. Why? Well when you have backed as much as I have (and in no small amount), streamed almost every time I have have played personally (I am not a paid, for profit streamer.. I just stream my personal game play - I don't have sponsors, ads, talk or promote myself.. I just play the game and people will watch.. or not), I do run a dedicated social media group on a major social media site solely for and dedicated to Star Citizen that is kept current and updated almost daily, and I spend my own personal money and hours to upgrade my personal systems to do my part in helping test SC builds (those that know me, know I am always testing, writing bug reports and helping others constantly - I am in testing chat every single day in fact).. and I do it expecting nothing in return... but then hear about some others getting direct support, even new powerful computer hardware... a little flag goes up wondering about what is going on... I have never asked for anything for what I do nor ever expected anything.. That does not mean I would just sit by and be happy that others might and because they did, receive special consideration... especially with what we are talking about here.. Who would not love to be able to get a multi thousand dollar top end gaming rig for free? Not only would I love to replace my 6 year old system, but get one that is faster and more powerful for the future... instead I used that money backing SC.. I will be honest when I say that hearing some are getting nice full on Origin computer PC's and Optane drives for promoting Star Citizen, is eye opening to the rest of us... BUT AGAIN, is this in fact what is going on, is this some special promotion? How were they selected for these 'gifts' and who decided what names to hand over to the sponsors/manufacturers giving out the hardware? Even without any information, I am sure the hardware is from those companies, not directly from CIG.. but the names of the backers receiving these 'gifts' had to come from CIG and based on the cross promotion between CIG and those companies, common sense pretty much tells us that. Now, again, I don't know if this is true, or if this is how it is happening or why... which is the point of my post here.. I am trying to find out the facts and get the correct information regarding this. I hope someone will answer this quickly so it can be put to rest with facts and truth and not guess work and innuendo. So can either CIG reply please, with what this is all about... or can someone point me to some links with the facts behind this? EDIT: People are replying to this post I made and I am now being sent links from many about this subject.. and CIG, I hope you are reading this and someone will reply with the facts because at this moment, I will be honest.. I am disappointed if the way this appears is, in fact, the reality. Having now seen some images, tweets and posts made by certain other backers, it now makes it appear as if full on favoritism is taking place. So as a not so small financial backer, I would ask that CIG clarify exactly what is going on... It is one thing to maybe get a perk here and there for promoting Star Citizen etc... and a whole other thing to be one in a small group consistently selected out to get valuable high end rewards and perks... like new full on high end computer gaming systems. I hope CIG will consider answering that which has been asked because as it appears now, I truly am disappointed and unhappy with this as it currently 'appears'. Thanks.. Malakie
