I have serious considerations for my current computers that I have. I have 3 computers. My current primary computer is my AMD build, but I have an HP Z800 workstation that I do recording and editing on and I have another build with business only materials on. I play SC, ArmA 3, World of Warships, Elite, and a few other games. I look for stability and decent frames. I also have multiple VMs for hosting a test servesr and a programming install of 7 which are on the AMD machine currently. I have run into an issue where games that I normally run on the AMD machine are actually running more smoothly on the Z800 machine. ArmA is getting nearly the same performance but is much more smooth and stable. World of Warships actually sees a higher FPS on average on the Z800 which has an older GPU, and Star Citizen is about the same. Now, of course, I also don't jerk around and lose 10 frames when I record on the Z800. There is another issue. Does the performance differences relate to the fact that I run multiple monitors/ televisions on my AMD machine or is it because I am using an older AMD machine on games that are known for poorer performance on AMD products? For example, ArmA and Squad do not run well on AMD machines, but are stable on Intel. The other thing to note is that benchmarks indicate that the AMD FX8370 has a little bit higher higher single thread performance than the Xeon X5670, but can't compare to a dual six core machine. The other part I am uncertain about is the health of the Cherryville SSD on the AMD build, which actually might be part of the problem, but that SSD is only the OS install. The Intel SSD health scanner software indicates that it is fine. What I am trying to consider is if I should buy a 5.25 bay converter to install the Reactor SSD on the Z800 and swap the RX480 and the XFX HD7950. This would turn the AMD build into a build that I would just mess around with. I am not sure what I would do with the parts. Then entire time that I have owned the Crosshair board, I have overclocked the CPU. I can't tell if this is me getting tired of the peaks and troughs in performance of the AMD build, fruitless impulsive actions to possibly get better performance, a possible hardware issue because of age or overclocking, or if this is actually a good idea. Thoughts? Mind you, I have an X52 connected to my primary computer and a dualstick configuration (Xtreme 3D Pro and the Original Sidewinder joysticks) plugged into the Z800. I have a 24 inch Spectr monitor. My printer is connected to this machine. It sounds like the fans on the GPU might need replaced or the entire cooler needs to be replaced. 3) Business Windows 10 Edu Intel i7-2600 EVGA Z77 FTW EATX 8Gb DDR3 Samsung 1333 MSi Twin Frzr 3 HD 7950 OC PNY 120Gb SSD Two 500 Gb Western Digital laptop HDD Two 1 Tb Western Digital Black Business grade HDD NH-D9L cooler This computer is not used much beyond storing business data, so I am unlikely to change parts . If I wanted to, I could move the mobo into the NZXT case and move the crosshair into the DIY case. I would then turn the AMD machine in the business storage computer. Mind you, since it is a recent build, not much as been added to it so not much would be lost.
