Hello guys, I could use and advice how to manage storage in my PC. My rig is an i7 5820k with GTX 1070 and 16GB (2x8) 2133MHz RAM. I use my PC for full time job (3D modeling and rendering) and also for gaming, mainly AAA titles. As storage I use: 1. 250GB SSD - Operating system and all the installed software 2. 1TB WD Black - Work related stuff and installed games 3. 2TB WD Green - Work backup and extra storage I ran into three issues. My 1TB WD Black is running low on storage / for Star Citizen and other games I would like to get an extra SSD / I´m not sure if having more than 3 storage discs in one PC is a good idea. My idea for a solution is adding an 500GB SSD for games and exchange the two HDDs with one 2TB WD Black + adding an 4-6TB NAS for backup and storage. However this will require greater expenses which I would like to avoid if possible. I tried using the WD Green for my work but its noticeably slower and browsing through textures and so is a bit of a pain on that disk. Or I could just simply jam one extra 500GB SSD and one extra 2TB WD Black to all my existing discs, but I am worried about having 5 disks in one PC. Is it a bad idea? (According to Linus at LinusTechTips it is a horrible idea but wasn´t explained why.) Every opinion that will help me making a decision will be much appreciated!
