Looking for some opinions. I'm starting to try to figure out what to build for my next system.... My current CPU/mobo is going on 6 years old so it's time for an upgrade! :slightly_smiling_face: I decided I'm going to go overkill, and I'm trying to make sure the new machine is best optimized for what Star Citizen should be at release. What I mean by that, is they keep talking about parallelism, and how they plan on taking advantage of as many GPU/CPU cores as available. This makes it seem like having more cores/threads will be more valuable than a bit more clock speed. Based on this, I'm kind of leaning towards the Threadripper based on what CIG has been saying about that stuff. What do you all think about this? I plan on running a custom watercooling setup, so regardless of which one I get I'm going to push up to the highest possible stable speed. I think that's around 4.1ghz for the Threadripper (on all 16 cores), and 4.5ghz or so for the I9 (10 cores). So, not taking anything but Star Citizen into account, which would you say is the better way to go? I've always liked Intel, but these Threadrippers have some serious power when you start using all those cores. Have a good weekend!
