I feel bad for never giving feedback in this post I made some months ago: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/50174/thread/virpil-alpha-height-desktop-use-advice-before-buyi So here goes in a new thread: I ended up getting the VKB Gladiator NXT Premium several months ago and I have not regretted! No quality issues and it's a perfect joystick for desktop use. It's heavily dampened through the grease they use and it took a bit of getting used to. It means if you let go of the stick there is a resistance and it will slide smoothly and controlled back to center without overshooting or oscillations. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just simply that it's a different feeling. It might even be a good thing in that there is a feeling of moving the stick through "something" besides the springs, potentially leading to a higher accuracy. There are 3 different springs included and they don't change much on the return characteristic, only the force needed to deflect the stick. I use a medium spring for pitch, which I feel give me sufficient resistance to accurately stop the movement. On roll (yes I fly pitch/roll) I use a light spring as I don't need the same level of control as in pitch. The combined force of the light/medium springs means that moving the stick to corner positions is more effortless than using two medium springs. Also the medium spring for pitch somewhat resembles the force required for twist (which is my yaw), thus making the aiming pitch/yaw a similar feeling. The twist itself has none of the issues in the video mentioned in my previous post. The stick shape is very neutral. It doesn't feel "special" in any way, which I suppose is a good thing. The is nothing that bothers you, neither is there anything especially ergonomic. It's just a joystick and does it job without making you aware that it's there. I have fairly large hands for reference. Buttons hats etc. are all high quality and there are plenty of them to have all important functions mapped. If you intend to get 2x for HOSAS you will not miss any buttons. I use keyboard for left hand, and rarely need to move my hands to reach any functions. With the current state of combat, I'm not making any additional upgrades. Joystick/keyboard is not a bad combo in the current "pip scuff meta". If I would want to increase my "pip scuff potential" the logical addition would be pedals for forward/backward so the left hand can be fully concentrated on pip scuffing. But hopefully CIG will do something to kill off this meta in the near future. Desktop joystick/keyboard is good combo for FPS combat, as the stick can easily be moved out of the way for normal keyboard/mouse controls. TL;DR: I would highly recommend this joystick for the price. Especially for someone considering T16000, I feel the extra money spent is well worth it and the price difference is small enough that I would go with at least 1x NXT for those considering HOSAS (really the T16000s don't have enough buttons and it will greatly hamper you).
