So I am considering making the jump to either 4K or VR. Never having seen or used 4K it's hard to determine if it is worth it for me. Tried some Oculus Rift version before at a Game of Thrones Exhibition (in 2015, maybe someone will know which version this may have been) and with the current offer (€450 for HMD + Touch controllers) it is very tempting. While the experience was great (except for screendoor effect) I wonder if the "Next Gen" HMD are worth waiting for. Mainly thinking wireless+higher resolution+eyetracking+foveated rendering could make a MASSIVE difference, but it also could take a long time (to become affordable after release of the actual gear even). Opinions? Experiences? Suggestions? Not sure what to go for I dont expect to be able to have these amounts of money available for my hobby on a whim, unfortunately, so getting multiples is out of the question for me.
