For someone who has been following computing for more than 20 years i am starting to get cold chills about how increasingly dependant CIG appears to be getting on Intel's sponsorship, and believe me with your user base using multiple hardware vendors you wouldn't agree to become an advertising arm for one vendor unless you needed their money, which is an argument i don't want to get into. This is about why i fear what looks increasingly like a classic software / game developers hardware partnership, those things be it Intel, AMD or nVidia almost always results with the other vendors having some form of problem with the software / game. Relevant to this Intel have been fined over and over and over again for anti trust activities against their rival AMD, to the tune of Billions of $, some really very serious ####, including for deliberately injecting code into software that when it detects AMD CPU's will make it use code paths that are far less efficient, Icedently the other side of that partnership doesn't escape, Dell have also been fined big money as a result of Intel's shenanigans. So i ask myself what exactly are Intel doing to make this game run better on its drives than anyother drive? And what else? AMD are back to being competitive again with Ryzen, and when you look at the sales data of those who publish it Ryzen CPU's are selling 40% to Intel 60% so are CIG willing to work with AMD to optimise this game for Ryzen or is it a part of the contract that the CPU's must also be exclusively Intel? that's another thing that happens with these partnerships, the paying partner doesn't pay to work along side other vendors, who also don't pay. Look i'm fine with some sponsorship to put the sponsors name out there, but clearly this is becoming a lot more than that and 90% of us cannot afford $350 for an Intel Drive, 40% of us are not buying Intel CPU's, do we get the same treatment despite Samsung / WD.... and AMD not handing piles of cash to CIG? PS: i'm trying to keep this short, but if a lot of you need proof of anything i have said i'm happy to provide it.
