Sent to their customer service. For the attention of all those who designed the gigabyte am3+ 990fxa-ud3 I just thought I would come and give my thanks to those who designed this board, what has just happened, I find quite remarkable. I was upgrading my CPU to an FX 9590, I have revision 4 of your board that supports it. All was going well as I have fitted all parts and booted the system to windows, when it suddenly shut off and entered a permanent boot loop, i.e it would start, run for a short time, then shut off. Computers sometimes misbehave so I gave it to the count of three boots before I got up to shut off the power by which time it had hit its 6th cycle. I opened the case again and was going to reset the bios thinking a setting was wrong for the new processor, when I felt a droplet of water. My water cooling unit had leaked, quite profusely, onto the back of the graphics card and the north bridge chip. At this point I was rather upset as the board and the graphics card = £250 I do not have at present. Here is where it got interesting. I fixed the leak, let the system dry for a day, and tested for any further leak. I had UV market the components water had hit so I could check them under a microscope, the graphics card looked ok which surprised me greatly as it really should not have been. So I reset the bios, plugged it back in, and to my amazement it booted up. Your board detected a problem due to current shifting, and reacting faster than a human ever could it sent itself into a protective bootloop which prevented power being drawn from other components such as the GPU. The process corrupted the primary bios, but that was no problem as once I reset the CMOS your board automatically, detected this and loaded a secondary from a backup NAND chip I wasn’t even aware I had. When I first bought this board a year ago I remember thinking it was a little expensive, now I see it was worth it. The ingenuity of your engineers has just created a customer in me for life. I would be very grateful if someone were to translate these words and send them to your guys wherever they may be. Thank you for your time.
