I am looking to gain better performance from my PC and I thought perhaps upgrade rather than completely new..for now. So, two part question. What can I do to help performance on the below build? And... when is a good time to build a new system with the knowledge that- the below is my current system and assuming SQ42 is late 2018 and the PU in 2020? Eventual new system likely to drive 1440p+ 34" Ultra wide Current specs from late 2013 build: Operating sys- Windows 7 Home premium Mobo- Gigabyte B85M-D3H (bios last updated 8/03/13 v04.06.05, perhaps I should update this?) CPU- i5-4670 @ 3.40ghz 2401Mhz 4 core Ram- 8GB GPU- Radeon R9 290 Monitor- 27" 1080p Power Supply- + 240GB SSD drive and 2TB HD I am thinking of upgrading Ram to 16GB thinking that is a cheap help. Upgrading GPU to a 1070 or better would help but would it really be worth it with the CPU that I have? After upgrading the ram, I hope that it would be enough of a gain and get me to when Coffee Lake comes out perhaps and then do a new system? I know netcode is going to help a lot but I want to play reasonably well when 3.0 drops in August. Additionally, I play ARK and BF1 and others. Any recommendations/ thoughts would be appreciated and I thank you in advance for your time and comments.
