This is Rocket Johnson with Hurston News Network Sports and today I’ll be covering the 1st Annual Javelin Run. Something that has had bikers in this and neighbouring systems talking since the idea was originally brought up at their quarterly rally and meet. A race from the camp at ArcCorp Mining Area 141 to the wreck of the Javelin class destroyer, the first leg of the long distance race stopping about 50km from the starting point. What makes this race unique is that it’s not part of a formal race circuit and is open only to recognised color wearing bikers. The party started last night: music blaring and bikers dancing around with drinks in hand. And soon the starting shot will go off and these high powered machines will pull into the race. Now for a word from the event sponsors. Rocket: “This is Mr. Shutaru owner of Shutaru Investments a subsiduary of Synchronizers. Shutaru what prizes will the winner look forward to?” Shutaru: “A duster jacket commemorating the event, a custom made dagger with energy cutting edges and no race will be complete without a trophy. And then Commi over here also chipped in.” Rocket: “Commissarr who are you with and what is the additional prize?” Commissarr: “I own Uncle Commi’s ShipYard Program a subsiduary of Galaxy Discoveries and Logistics and we’ll be sponsoring a big discount coupon for a new Dragonfly Black” prizes are a citizencon goodies pack and an upgrade to a dragonfly black Rocket: “And W4rb0t the organizer of the event, can you tell us more?” W4rb0t: “This event is organized and guarded by the Synchronizers we support the local biker community and this is a first for us but this will be a very interesting biker event” Rocket: “Thank you gentleman. Ok Let’s cut to the starting line” 30 minutes later single shot signalling the start of the race And they’re off in a cloud of dust. We’ll cut Lenny Lense in the overhead newsvan for better coverage. Newsvan: Thanks Rocket. These boys are riding so fast you can swear they are being chased by an angry pack of Vanduul. I’m seeing some aggressive manuevrering and some close calls. This is dangerous terrain but these bikers are making it look like perfectly flat roads.zzttzzbbzzrg Rocket: “We lost signal there from the newsvan but we assure you folks we’ll be right back and all the footage will be shown during the highlights. Stay tuned after these commercials. later in the race Rocket: And we’re back. The bikers are nearing the finishing line. Let’s cut back to the newsvan. Newsvan: Lenny here we have a whole pack approaching the finish line and there is so much dust we cant distinguish individuals. It’s gonna be a close call we’ll have to see it from the line camera. Back to you Rocket Rocket: Ok here on the finish line cam. Look at them go! It’s a photo finish! Three of them crossed so close to each other we’ll have to focus on the freezeframe. And it’s Wheelie Wilson just a handwidth in front of Louis the Wrench who is almost right next to him and closely followed by our third place winner Full-throttle Phil! This is insane! I’m looking at some of the footage now from the newsvan from after we lost the signal and we’ll be airing that now while all the participants get off their bikes and then we’ll start with the prize giving ceremony and the afterparty! an ursa rover and bandits wearing the desert cape and towel outfits arrive and shots are fired Rocket: OMG desert bandits! They grabbed the 3 winners and they’re shooting up the place! The other bikers are shooting back but they’ve only got handguns. It’s chaos! If somebody is nearby please send help! Someone call system security! an hour later Ladies and gentleman Rocket here. As you all know desert bandits have kidnapped the racers and are now holed up the Javelin wreck which has reportedly been fortified and they are demanding a ransom, the release of some of their gang members and safe conduct out of the system. They warned that if anyone gets too close the hostages will be killed. The Synchronizers and the bikers have the area surrounded and a dropship with marines just landed and have begun negotiations. The marines wanted the Synchronizers to stand down and the latter demanded to be part of the rescue attempt due to the marines being outnumbered by the bandits. Stay tuned...what? This just in while the bzzzzt government sensored sign meanwhile in the dropship Marine: “Attention Synchronizers commando team halt your advance on the hostage site immediately!” Synchronizers Officer: “I have my orders! We’re not leaving our boys to die in a firefight you can’t win alone! You’re either with us or against us!” Marine: “F#$k! ...murmuring. This is a UEE operation!” Dropship Officer: “Charlie team! The major has given us the greenlight, take off immediately and infiltrate before the mercenaries make it a bloodbath! Go go go!” marines and mercenary commandos that crept up to the Javelin wreck on foot silently slip into the wreck unnoticed. Several marine and mercenary ground and air units race towards the wreck. The defenses open up on the attackers. The battle has begun.
