Imperial Armed Forces HIGH COMMAND BULLETIN Our Empire is a force at war, fighting adversaries who threaten our foothold on a our civilization and way of life. The most significant aspect of our current strategic reality is that the struggle with hostile alien forces in which we are now engaged will be a protracted one in which we will find ourselves often in conflict with all manners of adversaries. The Imperial Armed Forces's primary mission is to provide necessary forces and capabilities to the combatant commanders in support of the Universal War and Expansion Strategies. We have thousands of Legionaries deployed or forward stationed today to support combat operations throughout Imperial space to deter aggression while securing the gains we've already established. We are fighting today while simultaneously preparing for tomorrow. To continue to accomplish our mission, we are aggressively restructuring the IAF. We are transforming from a force designed for contingency operations in the pre-Vanduul era to a force designed for continuous operations in a time of persistent threat of invasion that presents challenges to our Empire ranging from traditional to potentially catastrophic. The IAF is dependent upon the resources procured up until now from the Senate, coupled with emergency supplemental appropriations, to support current operations. These resources will also enable the force to recover from the stress placed on equipment and Legionaries during combat and continually "reset" itself for future deployments. Moreover, these resources are required to continue to transform the IAF into a larger, more powerful force built on self-sufficient legion-based modules. This force will be more flexible, more rapidly deployable, and better able to sustain the protracted military campaigns and conduct the joint expeditionary operations required by the current security environment. We are sustaining our universal commitments while making tremendous progress in our transformation. We will need the continued support of the People and Senate to accomplish our mission today and tomorrow while providing for the well-being of our Legionaries, their families, and our civilian workforce who are serving the IAF in this time of war. We will take back every planet, every colony, and every single frozen rock we have ever lost; and then we'll take theirs. Humanity will triumph. Terra Prima! --Legate Maximilian Labienus The 47th Legion is a military themed, North American based player association which specializes in ground combat and boarding actions. The 47th prides itself on professionalism and esprit de corps and our officers work tirelessly to instill these qualities into our recruits. Teamwork and collective effort are mantras the 47th lives by. We move as a unit, fight as unit, and live as unit. We have no room for selfish or undisciplined players in our ranks. Our motto is "officium ante proprium bonum." Translated from Latin, it means "service above self." When you join the 47th you cease being an individual; you are now part of the most highly trained and professional combat unit in the Empire. The 47th Legion stands alone as being the only organization currently specializing in boarding actions and ground combat. As such, extra emphasis will be placed on ground warfare tactics, boarding strategies, MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain), CQB (Close Quarters Battle), and small arms marksmanship. With dozens of Legionaries who are current and prior service the 47th Legion can draw on a wealth of real-life dismounted infantry and cavalry tactics from around the world's Armed Forces. These types of dangerous ground and boarding missions require an enormous cast of support elements. We recognize this. We need Legionaries that can serve in multiple capacities or as specialists in direct support of our operations. Bombers, fighters, transports, tankers, recon, e-war, supply; we can't get our Legionaries into the fight without every element working in perfect coordination. Whether you want to be the first man through an enemy ship's breached hull, the transport pilot who got us there, the bombardier who disabled the ship, or the e-war office scrambling enemy sensors from a frigate, the 47th Legion has a place for you. We strive to provide our Legionaries with a semi-realistic military simulation environment. This involves some light roleplaying elements but our rank structure, personal awards, training exercises, and camaraderie constitute the bulk of the atmosphere. Additionally, the 47th recognizes the contributions our Legionaries make to the unit. Whether it's something as simple as creating some artwork, recruiting friends into the unit, or capturing a ship single-handedly we have a plethora of rewards to publicly honor our Legionaries with. Our legionaries proudly display their ribbons in a display case on their profiles. If you'd like to learn more about our awards system you can view them and their descriptions here.
