So I’ve been following this guy lately on twitch, and he recently blew up on YouTube. He mostly makes videos about the Indy game scene and development tricks. He pointed out this idea that helps to battle toxicity in games. Something I think is important for building any community, especially in pvp games where you need something to offset the inherent aggressiveness of players. Star citizen, being heavily dependent on community and crew to make its design work on the large scale, could use a solution like this to encourage the friendlier interactions day to day. Now there are issues. This isn’t something that only applies to small games, because you’ll find a similar system in mmos like final fantasy 14, but it does depend on mmo style rewards. Star citizen does have rewards for play but not on the same scale as traditional mmos. We don’t have power levels or a real point grind to the top. So cig would have to develop its own reward chains (tho this seems to be happening anyway as part of the reputation system). …But the first question is if players can be encouraged to behave better for those benefits. Would you work upvotes from strangers if it meant getting better perks?
