Funny enough, many studies show video games "improve intelligence" yet most of the ignorance I see is with video gamers, mainly millennials and GenX. Admittedly I myself am a millennial in my late 30s, and I am an American in a state that ranks toward the bottom in the country for education (Nevada). A good example is the many reactions to video game-related content. Recent examples of Cyberpunk being delayed till December, the MSR situation here recently, and countless other examples. I think there is fairly compelling evidence that humans, at least in my country, are losing well-rounded critical thinking skills.
