In a number of recent threads I have seen a number of complete fools arguing with the trolls, griefers, and white knights, as well as other caricatures I need not mention. I have also seen complaints from these fools allowing themselves to be killed time and time again by the same griefers in game. Well, I'm about to bestow upon you one tiny little nugget of wisdom that might save you the aneurism. Stop giving a shit and above all else: do not feed the trolls. Someone is causing a mild ruckus with their disruptive attention seeking behavior? Ignore them. Under no circumstances reply to them, attempt to reprimand or disavow them. Simply ignore them. See, these types will usually only make at most a single reply in a thread unless replied to. Otherwise they would be spamming and get moderated on. Speaking of which, the report button does exists. And whatever you might think, you can actually use it when people are blatantly violating the rules and insulting people. Even somewhat indirectly through certain dismissive passive aggressive comments. However, I should suggest you take great care not to abuse the flag button. Secondly, when you discover that someone is not a troll, but simply unbased or bullheaded, there comes a time when you aught agree to disagree, or recognize that they are so unnegotiable that there's no point attempting to reason with them, it won't work. A side note, if nobody is upvoting them, it's likely that nobody values their opinions anyway so you need not worry of their thoughts being contagious. At the same time, one must take great care not to cut off attempts at debate lest one risk they themselves become the unnegotiable one. In regards to excessive amounts of griefing and trolling in game, do remember that it takes less time to switch servers than for a ship claim timer to tick down. If someone is turning the place into rusty dagger shank town, don't enter an argument with them in the game chat. Just hop servers. It's quick, easy, and painless. With persistent logging halfway working these days, you might end up where you were before. And last that brings me to the Piccard's. Just Piccard your own post and ignore the counter. Get over it, and pay it no mind. On the other hand, if you are yourself any of these unsavory individuals. Well. If I was to say anything disdainful it would merely be cringe edge lord nonsense anyway and counter productive to the post. Even this statement as I'm writing it is blatant high horsing, and likewise cringe, and absolutely not poggers at all.
