This is not a discussion about the ethics of AI in a creative space such as game development, or a place to lament CIG. no matter where you stand on the issue, It's happening and there's nothing anyone in the industry or this community can do about it. Instead, this is a discussion about the advancements in AI technology and how CIG plans to remain at the cutting edge of engine development when GPT-6 can create 3D models in blender, interface with websites, complex engine tools and code entire games on it's own in mere hours with simple written prompts. DLSS5 is currently solving some of the most complex rendering problems that have hindered game development since it entered the 3D space decades ago. and all of this is happening at seemingly lightning speed. the question is how will CIG harness this when the entire industry is pivoting into this technology. Can CIG afford to pass up this technology, and how can a game with the scope and development history of Star Citizen benefit from this? what kind of performance improvements could this technology bring to Star Citizen? How will it fast track the concepting phase of game/ship development, bug fixing, backtesting features? I'm surprised people aren't discussing this more. I'm by no means advocating for this tech personally, I'm well aware how passionate some backers are about avoiding this technology and understand their point of view. I just know that this will ultimately be the industry standard. I find DLSS5 uninspired but incredibly impressive if implemented in a subtle way, especially for lighting purposes. Planet Tech, Starchitect and Genesis itself is a generative system, what other functions could this technology provide? As backers of this project, I think the discussion should be seriously started. How do you guys feel about this last few months of AI advancement? are you optimistic, terrified, angry? let's discuss...
