So I just spent approx 4 hours trying to enjoy the Alpha. And I give up, Inventory kind of worked for a bit if extremely slowly, missions kind of loaded, except for boxes to collect of course, but the frame rate even in space was appalling. I have a damn good computer, 5700X, water cooled, 3080TI , 64GB ram at 4000mhz-ish gen 4 M.2 nvme drive. But because performance is entirely server based the frame rate and performance suck. I was getting less than 30fps at 1440p. If this was any other studio, any other game everyone would be absolutely slamming it. I'm done for now, might try PTU and see if that's any better.
