Is No Man's Sky fun? I love solo games and hate MP games, unfortuneately SC was my 1st MP game and I hate it because of MP. - Off Topic

I do not mind if it looks 100% real, as I will be in VR and the bright colors might be fun for a change. I just do not want to have to beat level one to get to level two etc... Is it as grindy as Elite Dangerous? Are there missions? Thank you.
