In another thread @Beekay posted about the Venus project: https://www.forbes.com/sites/danielaraya/2020/09/01/is-the-venus-project-the-next-stage-in-human-evolution/#2781a9195c35 It got me to thinking about the social model in an era when people had everything they could normally get by struggling monetarily for literally nothing and no one had to go to work to make money. Would everyone become couch potatoes? Would scientific advancements stop? Would we still try to go beyond the solar system? People will still feel the need to compete, so I don't think there will be much change. Some will compete in sports, some in science, some at acting on TV, some at putting others down for crazy ideas. What they won't have to do is suffer due to trying to achieve a monetary existence. Humans seem to like a certain amount of drama in their lives, so I'm sure they'll find some new way to inflict hardships on themselves even if only self-inflicted (e.g., in the small mars isolation experiments that seems to get channeled into relationship drama). Anyone have any thoughts on this or know of research papers exploring the topic?
