So NETflix recently came out with a new series of short stories and all of it in different styles of animation, from CGI to toon style all for adults not children. It is simply amazing. But I digress. Watching it reminded me of the level of details achievable in animation. I was hoping that SQ42 now more than ever has the same level detail of story telling and one day as our comps get more powerful, same level of game play graphic detail. As I was watching the series I wondered whether CIG really needed actors and whether this is the beginning of the end of acting and hollywood as we know it. Why pay a movie actor or actress when one can achieve photo-realism to such a detail that overall overhead costs like salaries and location shootings would seem better spent on the animation engine, screen writers and art team. What are your thoughts?
