This is just me being a little ranty, but whatever. As a community (maybe even in our real lives), I think we (whelp, I said it) should probably think about this before rejecting the words of another poster. I've seen multiple posts where someone may be upset or wants to provide feedback about their experience and they make a post using the "we" or "all of us" terminology only to be presented with someone posting something along the lines of "You don't speak for me" or "quit trying to speak for all of us". And I think it's overly dismissive, maybe even downright abusive to the person making the post. I think people tend to use "we" and "us" as a way to feel like they are part of something bigger. A community of people that feel the same way. It doesn't always mean "everyone", inclusively, without exception. It can sometimes be a small group of people, but it's rarely just a singular person that feels that way. There are just too many people in this world to statistically be a viewpoint that is only held by one person. By "attacking" the post simply because they used the inclusive form, I feel like you (maybe without meaning it) are trying to place that person into a unique situation that only applies to them and devaluing their contribution as insignificant or unimportant. You're essentially telling them they don't matter, their experience are theirs alone, and nobody else in this world shares their viewpoint. TLDR; I think people use "we" to feel included and posting that they don't speak for you is making them feel like an outsider. Or it could just be me without enough coffee. Flame away.
