https://80.lv/articles/nvidia-s-new-ai-for-generating-fully-textured-assets-from-images/ The system can create 3D meshes with complex topology and rich geometric details. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j8I7V6blqM Imagine using high res/photogrammetry a 2D images as input to the algorithm and producing very detailed 3D fully textured meshes that an Artist can fine tune by hand or even input it in the procedural asset generation pipeline as a parameter (houdini) to produce even more variation from it. By the way this new technique not only generates geometry, but even the material models too (sort of)! Probably inside 2-3 year max you will see Maya/Houdini/UE5 plugins utilising it, or a variant of sort. This process can immensely speed up the process of asset generations for games or any 3D graphics related content! Whether is SC, GTA VI, or any newer upcoming game of the future, I'm always in awe when the industry showcases something that can speed up even more the pipeline to create stuff! Who knows, in future, if they implement it in Houdini, thanks to the mighty tool maybe even SC can implement/incorporate it one day something of sort to further quicken the asset creation pipeline! Fun fact, the future is probably chaining together different AI algorithms. Nvdia has another one that can create images from your very rudimentary art designs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbid5rvCGos now I bet they could chain the output AI created images of the previous one to the new AI algorithm showcased in this thread and you can literally create moderately high detailed 3D assets in no time! In addition, you could further add to the pipeline with seeds a systematic way to generate procedural variation of the asset as well! Exciting times ahead!
