I wanted to quickly dismantle two arguments (more like myths): CIG made a lot of money on SC - clearly not, when games like CoD or GTA make just as much if not more, and often times in first days of release. CIG wants to milk SC, therefore they keep this project in development forever - it's laughable since if they released, and it would be a smash hit they could earn so much more. Next time people try to bring up funding arguments, please consider what is actually big money in the industry. And this is not including mobile games... Some other hits earnings: GTA 5 - $1 bil. in first 3 days (2013) Fallout 4 - $750 mil. in first 24h (2015) Source: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-2-hits-800-million-in-revenue-in-3-days-sets-new-call-of-duty-records/1100-6508775/ While that out of the way, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for SC to break its funding record this year even more. Personally, I can't wait for new ships being announced, maybe some straight to flyable (pretty please). For sure I'm gonna upgrade my LTI hoover quad to 350r because I always wanted to have it as my fast taxi with custom paint job. Honestly, my girlfriend and I can't wait for the IAE. Two more weeks, two more weeks lads. :stuck_out_tongue: But then Darktide releases uhhh.. so many things competing for one's time for entertainment.. I'm not making an argument that SC has bigger profit. I'm not even comparing profits at all in here. I'm just showing the scale of the number - $500 mil. For the sake of my comparison, it doesn't matter how that money was used. It wouldn't make any difference if SC operating costs across 10y were 1 mil from that 500. It wouldn't make any difference if cost of CoD was 799 out of that 800. Because I'm not comparing those things here. I'm just showing scale of the number. SC raised $500 mil over 10y, while CoD sales provide $800 mil. "over night". Disclaimer: this post is not meant for drama, it's meant to remind people that earning $500 000 000 over 10 years while keeping lights on for many employees is not as big of a figure as one might think.
