hello all, lots of youtubers seem to get bored about the looong SC develoments. - There is a Retail-Later video of all "promises" from 2014-2022 - and youtubers for example who admit of having "no idea what to talk about" when creating sc content on their channels. So guys, the solution is pretty easy: Have a break of SC then. Done. I see absolutely no sense in complainig about endless developement process: The common process is that publishers throw out their unfinsished business saying "eat this"- and after a certain while up to the next project. Is this the way we want to go with SC? I dont think so. I was a bit nervous myself and wondering, whether all old ships will really be revamped one day. But if you understand the problems that occur it makes sense. The fact that a Galaxy will outbeat older ships is natural, too: Devs know way better today where to go and what features are needed. This includes funcionality as well as sizes, dimensions etc. And yes: Switching game engines isn't any cakewalk. I bet 99% of all publishes would have said at such a point of no return: "ok, lets throw out SQ42 somehow as single player, lets add a superficial multiplayer and then close that box forever pretty fast". Does anybody know what it could mean to switch a game engine? It could as well mean to start from scratch. From the very scratch: Ship models need to be recreated etc. and those problem eventually may/will appear at any single further feature that finds its place into SC - as we all are experiencing with shields or damage or weapon models! Most players seem to forget about all this. But keep in mind, if we compare the situation to other studios and products, like for example Amazon games and their new world: There, for example, developers even start to complain when its about implementing just further weapons like the wanted daggers for example: "a hughe job, means a new gameplay where everything needs to be re-balanced, not doable in 1-2 weeks, but still in discussion" Now, compare that to SC developements where whole features (!) (tractor beams, medical etc) are going to be developed and implemented! Then new ships and weapons and FPS etc. So no, not tomorrow of course...but all good things take some time. bottom line is: YES, it takes and eats massive time YES, it takes massive ressources and YES, it takes incredible know how and experience. but also YES, thats the way we're going! means, CR never came up with a finished game and said everything is ready in 2 years: A product like SC is a massive management achievement, too, where even budgets aren't fixed in any ways (planned projects, complications etc). And as some youtuber mentioned: All that income is pretty nothing compared to the benefit of some smartphone games. I can understand all the youtuber rants about (their) impatience. But one the other hand an mmo like SC certainly doesn't fall out of the sky down into your pc by doing nothing. We all wish every single developement obstacle could be overcomed in no time. But I also bet that also CIG and CR wish that, too. my 2cents, thanks for reading.
