With the ongoing COVID-19 situation here in the United States, and all across the world, more and more people are starting to use video/chat/calling/conferencing apps like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and others. One of the features about Zoom that caught my eye right away was the ability to drop in a virtual background without even needing to setup a green screen. Now, I'll be the first person to admit that the system isn't perfect or ideal.... for that, using a real green screen, would probably yield much better (or at least more professional looking) results. However the system does work, and it works rather well. Which of course led me to the next question: what kind of virtual background would I like to display? Zoom supports both static images, and even simple animated GIF images (although that obviously uses up a little more processor power, I think that most of us with decent gaming PC's have more than enough CPU horsepower to run an animated background with Zoom), so why not get some images, or better yet GIF's that make it look like we're sitting in the Captains Chair on the deck of an Idris-class Frigate? What about relaxing in the dining room, or owners suite of an 890 Jump sitting in orbit above ArcCorp, as the planet slowly turns beneath us? Speaking of ArcCorp, maybe a nice window backdrop of the ArcCorp or Hurston, or Microtech City skyline, with all the fun traffic zooming around and the lights (and sometimes the holographic ads) making the city look alive? Is this something that either the fine folks in CIG, or even just some of the many talented members within our community could help out with, and provide for us as a resource?
